The trailer for the upcoming film “Star Trek: Nemesis” just got a little longer than the 2-minutes available on the QuickTime website. iFilm has just made available here over five minutes of the ShowEast reel that Paramount uses to preview the movie for exhibitors. The screen size is small and buffering may cause the clips to play less than smoothly, even with a broadband connection. Beware–this clip includes lots of spoilers.
According to this article, rumour has it that this film may be a segue into a new Star Trek series–one with fresh blood in charge, starring Jonathan Frakes (Riker) and Marina Sirtis (Troi) and specifically NOT including Patrick Stewart (Jean-Luc Picard) and Brent Spiner (Data).

It would probably be counter-productive to try to “lobby” ALI members at this point. All the arguments have been made for those who care to listen. I’m hopeful the strong opposition from so many different interest groups will convince them that, even if this is the best compromise possible, it won’t be enacted by the states. If not, then it will indeed be time to start contacting your state legislators. We’ll see what happens next week.
