Joss Whedon’s Firefly : Down But Not Yet Out

Well, my favorite sci-fi TV show Firefly continues to glow dimly in the dark. Over on the Firefly fan bulletin board actor Adam Baldwin (Jayne), in one of his infrequent posts, left the following message: “I wouldn’t be surprised if Joss figures out a way to make Firefly into a movie this year… But there’s nothing official until Joss says so. Do not give up here until Joss packs it in.” A low-level inside source at Fox notes that surprisingly, the Firefly sets are still standing: “Sunday morning, Feb 02 – Sets are still there. The cargo bay and crew quarters and sickbay on 16, and the main ship, Inaras shuttle and shuttle #2 and the Alliance cruiser on stage 15…” This is apparently VERY unusual since studio space is at a premium and the sets for a truly canceled series would have been struck long before now. Finally, several Browncoats (the name Firefly fans have given themselves) plan to meet in Las Vegas for a friendly get-together on Friday, March 7th in the Kabuki Lounge in the Imperial Palace’s casino at 5:00pm

Update [2003-2-16 19:8:48 by rickyjames]: As of Valentine’s Day, the Firefly sets have been removed from Fox stages 15 and 16. Serenity, however, still flies in the imaginations of those who loved her and her crew.
