Elaine’s band, Zia Space, has been writing, playing, and recording songs with a space theme since 1994; she has also recorded a number of solo albums. Including albums titled “Big Bang!”, “Mars”, and the recent “Space Elevator Music”, the group has catered to a somewhat geeky fanbase. But that’s ok, that’s the way it should be, right?
Pascal Lee, chairman of the Mars Institute, and principal investigator with the NASA Mars project on Devon Island, had the bright idea of inviting Elaine to write a song about the place. She did more than that, with the “Mars” album a result, and now this latest trip to the Canadian Arctic. A weblog with photos and video is available now – the music video itself should be released later this year.
Meanwhile, Elaine has stepped down as president of the New York chapter of the National Space Society, and will be moving out west in a couple of months. We’ll miss her!
