A new species of African ape is being reported as discovered by the BBC article ‘New’ giant ape found in DR Congo. Another article with a bit more detail is in the Telegraph: Lion killers.

How is it that they have specimens of skulls but don’t have a DNA sample to compare with chimps and gorillas?
