Nearly a year ago, SciScoop reported on the status of “The Eyes of Nye,” the new show that Bill Nye developed in 2003. Bill Nye’s children’s TV show, “Bill Nye The Science Guy” ran from 1992 to 1998, and the hundred programs on topics from dinosaurs to momentum are still fascinating children today. Now there’s good news for adults: According to USAToday, not only will “The Eyes of Nye” be shown on PBS this spring, but Nye will host another show, called “100 Greatest Discoveries,” starting this year! Watch for the show to premiere on the Science Channel on December 8th.

“You could have 30,000 greatest discoveries,” says the Santa Monica-based scientist. But instead, in each show of the eight-week series, he’ll highlight 12 or 13 chosen by various science organizations.

“The Eyes of Nye” will feature not only sexual selection and pseudoscience (as reported earlier), but also global climate change, nuclear waste, antibiotics, and the science of sports. The Science Channel also has a short Q & A session with The Science Guy.

Who can answer these questions from the Q&A & reference the discovery they prompted?

"People made these discoveries when they were looking for something, but they weren’t sure what they were going to find:

How far away is the bottom of the sea?

Do all these birds have curved beaks?

Can this virus replicate without using DNA?"
