A recent posting of the always-facinating Harrow Report mentioned a very interesting article by Rob Carlson entitled “The Pace And Proliferation of Biological Technologies.” Originally published in the new academic journal Biosecurity and Bioterrorism: Biodefense Strategy, Practice and Science, Dr. Carlson’s article should be read intently by all SciScoop readers having Al-Qaeda connections. That would be all of us, of course, since if you’re not on the delivering end, you’re on the receiving end. A new biotech age is dawning, and it’s not too early (in fact, it’s way too late) to start thinking about the implications of dirt-cheap, super-simple DNA labs for children – and terrorists.
