So, Dr. Etzioi, when&#039;s the last time sociology cured any diseases?  Grew food?  If this was the standard by which public funding of research was held, then there&#039;d be a lot of highly-opinionated social scientists out of work....

And trotting out the NOAA budget figures doesn&#039;t tell you anything about the extent of oceanography research, since that is also done by NSF and ONR.

SciScoop should filter out articles that are such blatant politiking.</description>
