…the very idea that we know enough about these global-scale systems’ workings to attempt to ‘fine tune’ them is hubris of the worst kind.

I’ve sat through dozens of lectures and read hundreds of papers in which scientists wax lyrical about how they will control the climate through some biological or engineering effort. We cannot even predict the weather what chance have we really got of controlling the climate?
