The original press release proclaims this study a “breakthrough” and that it is “based on the skillful combination of two established experimental methods.”

Well, maybe it is and maybe it isn’t. But one thing that stood out in the press release scientific details aside is the claim that: “People who suffer from allergies are well acquainted with immunoglobulin E”. A very odd statement to make in a supposedly lay press release. I asked a few members of my family and friends who suffer allergies whether they had heard of IgE. With the exception of one family member who is an immunologist none of the others had heard of immunoglobulin, let alone immunoglobulin E.

Anyway, you can read the complete press release here and judge for yourself.
