Per Jensen at Linköping university in Sweden, and colleagues there and in Norway have demonstrated that chickens growing under stressful conditions can pass on their stress response characteristics.
Rather than overturn the theory of evolution, the findings actually provide a new basis for one of the counter arguments often posited – how can species adapt so quickly to changing environments if evolution is naturally slow.
