Kids everywhere may be disheartened to hear that science has proven that Santa and all his reindeer could be vaporised in a vast, high-speed fireball this coming Christmas Eve as they fly round the world carrying lots of toys and goodies to the homes of all the good children.

Even assuming that Santa only visits the approximately 90 million homes that believe in him, he would theoretically require that the 321,000 tons of presents, his sled and his own bulk be transported at a speed of 650 miles per second. That’s the speed they have to travel to fully exploit the 31-hour window of opportunity they get as they travel across timezones west to east, this Christmas Eve.

Unfortunately, science shows that each reindeer will absorb 14.3 quintillion joules of energy because of the enormous forces genereated by air resistance at this speed. That’s quite enough to cause instant vaporization of reindeer, sled, and Santa, sadly.

Check out the video for the science facts as explained by science:

So, it’s just as well that Santa has magic on his side, eh kids? Don’t be late with your message to Santa, here are 5 Ways to Connect With Santa on the Web.
